Marathon Training

Posted by Phil Davis Posted on Jun - 02 - 2010

On June 6, I’ll be running in San Diego’s Rock ‘n’ Roll marathon. If you’re in San Diego come and check it out! If you’re not, check back here for an update on how I did. I have been training for the last few months in between fight camps and I’m really looking forward to finally hitting the pavement. I’ve been running 40 miles a week, sometimes more. I’ve realized training for a marathon is a lot different than training for a fight. I don’t have my coaches and teammates to push me to the limit every day. All of it is self-motivation, luckily nothing motivates me more than music. Here’s one of the playlists I have been listening to while I run to get me pumped for the big race.

1) “Hotel California” – Red Hot Chili Peppers

2) “American Gangster” – Jay-Z

3) “Stronger” – Kanye West

4) “Stuntin’ Like My Daddy” – Lil Wayne

5) “Crawling” – Linkin Park

6) “I’m on the Rock” – Mavado

7) “Encore (remix)” – Linkin Park and Jay-Z

8 ) “Don’t Do It” – Young Jeezy

9) “Want This Forever” – Drake

10) “Pursuit of Happiness” – Kid Cudi

11) “Wait ‘til They See My Smile” – Alicia Keys

12) “No Games” – Serani

13) “All I Do is Win” – T-Pain

What songs do you have on your workout playlist to get you pumped? Let me know if I should add any, and wish me luck on June 6!!
